Coastal isolation

This is Windyridge - a sizeable country pad in the far-north of the county with a unique location. It’s on the outskirts of Berwick Upon Tweed in Scremerston, surrounded by woodland, accessible via a private drive, with the windswept, and often deserted Cocklawburn beach just a few hundred yards down a track. The main east coast railway runs parallel to the coastline, and Holy Island is visible just down the coast. I was doing this for my longstanding client Propology in Alnwick, and was praying for decent weather so I didn’t have to drive the journey twice.

It was a day of sunny intervals, and the wind was picking up due to the threat of an incoming storm which is visible in many of the external shots. I decided to get the exteriors sorted first, before that set in properly. I had to do it in two parts, as the forementioned bad weather caught me eventually.

The interiors were fairly easy to sort. This was a family home, and had all the stuff that a family has accumulated over the years - especially in the teenagers bedrooms. It is impossible to make things clinical in these sorts of properties, so you have to go with the flow, choose your angles carefully, and maybe do a bit of selective editing afterwards.

I spent about two and a bit hours shooting this house, and even managed to utilise the Hasselblad outside. It’s up for sale at £895K now, and will be a gorgeous family home for someone.
