Qualified again.
A while ago, I explained why I’d made the decision to leave the BIPP in this blog post.
Guess what……I’m back in!
One of my clients (who also use plumbers/builders/other manual tradespeople) insisted that I provide proof of “accreditation” alongside other things such as insurance cover levels. Now I hadn’t heard anything from this client for months, and payment of my last (small) invoice was held up by 3 months, so I wasn’t keen on having to jump through hoops for the odd low-level job which often take up a whole day due to the awkward timing and styling requirements. I like doing the jobs, and they can provide portfolio opportunities, so I decided to jump back in to the BIPP and get my letters back.
Unfortunately, I am now recorded as a “retired member” (cheeky gits), so I have to submit a panel of work to get back into the club. That shouldn’t be too difficult given the range of imagery I’ve put down in the 8 years since I left the organisation.
Now for the Association of Photographers - these bad boys are supposed to represent the pinnacle of UK photographers, and they don’t mess about. I need a portfolio obviously, but I also require references from art-buyers, invoices, and other stuff. Perusing the AOP site and looking at work from some of the existing members who shoot interiors, I’m less than impressed with what I see to be honest. I’m not certain that AOP membership, with it’s high price tag, is what I really want right now. I’ll get my BIPP licenciateship first and see what happens.
That’s if I can ever get logged in to the profile section of the bloody website. Nothing works does it?
