The End of Dull
It’s before 7am, and I’m writing this post after completeing a test that kept me awake all night with anticipation. What a geek.
Many of you will be aware of Google’s generative AI offering named Gemini. It has proven to be a great tool - in conjunction with Chat GPT - in assisting with speeding up my tortuous workflow, and alongside this, the oddly-named “Nano Banana” image-based Gen-AI utility has just been released to the general public. I saw a Youtube video on the subject on the incredible Piximperfect channel, and it blew me away. It has now been integrated into Photoshop’s generative AI function as a beta feature, so I had thoughts on how I could use it creatively within my day to day operations. Cue a sleepless night.
Rubbish weather is the bane of my life with regards to my job. Having to revisit properties to redo exterior shots in the sun, when it’s pretty much grey for 6 months of the year is a royal pain in the arse, so what if this new technology could turn a dull and lifeless photo into a sunny one? An early start was on.
I downloaded the beta version of Photoshop, selected a recent photo, and instructed the AI to convert the image to something shot on a sunny day while retaining all of the building features exactly as they were in the original. How about this then?

that is nothing short of miraculous! There’s a bit of loss of resolution, and slight cropping, but nothing that would be noticed in a real-estate listing. The shadows are perfect, the colours pop, and I would never imagine that it wasn’t shot in the sun.
I wouldn’t be able to use this every time as it can generate things that aren’t there on occasions. Otherwise, it’s an incredible addition to the tools I employ everyday. Wow.
