I’ve been used.
With all the recnt need to upgrade and replace equipment, I thought it would be wise to trade in some of my old gear to ease the financial burden of the purchases. I went online, logged into the trusty MPB website to obtain estimates, and packaged the gear up before getting it off to them via courier.
Imagine my disappointment when I got the actual quotes back two days later. My gear was so used, it was all completely unsaleable!
So….I have a cupboard full of DSLR bodies, lenses, tripods, light stands, studio lighting, modifiers, filters, and a myriad of unused equipment that is doing nothing, and even worse….is worth nothing.
I’m scratching my head thinking about how to proceed. I’m a bit unsure about using Ebay nowadays, with scams now being commonplace when dealing in camera gear, but it might be my only remaining option. My old Bowens lights and battery packs are now obsolete with the development of battery-powered flashes, and mirrorless cameras have replaced the bulky old DSLR’s of old. Even I am considering a complete conversion to mirrorless gear over the next few months as it’s lighter and of better quality.
I actually binned two lenses recently, which were completely knackered, and I’ve had to send one of my daily “go-to” bits of full-frame glass off for repair after the Nikon F to Z mount adapter got jammed onto it. The universe seems to be telling me something.
