April Falls
The April of 2024 was a chaotic, “all hands on deck” kind of affair, with a record revenue figure, 66 jobs completed, almost 3000 business miles accumulated in my car. With a couple of working days remaining, my 2025 April is looking pretty slim with a mere 29 jobs generating revenue almost 60% less than last year, and just over 1000 business miles driven. Self employment can be a strange creature at times, and you never know whether it’s just a blip or a forthcoming pattern.
The prestige work is still coming my way though, so I’m not going to panic - on the contrary actually - the occasional free weekends are most welcome, and a change in pace has meant I can relax a bit after years of white-knuckle, seven day a week grafting. Here’s the scene at my latest camping adventure - at Gameshope Bothy in the Moffat hills with my young’un last weekend.
My May diary is now starting to fill up with good local jobs, and I should have my medium format gear up and running in a couple of weeks. Confidence is running high, and it might be time to book a two-week summer vacation. What a time to be alive!
